To Portugal!? Of course!

Actually I did not leave Coruña very early. Rosalía and I had breakfast together and then we went to search for a bus or a good place to hitchhike or to find a free Wifi to find a covoiturage to Santiago. Since we weren't successful in any case, for me not understandable that there was no ALSA bus for Santiago in the ticket machine, I accompanied her to see her mother and then try hitchhiking to Santiago. Her mother adviced me to take the train since it was cheaper than the bus and actually that's what I did after saying goodbye and buying some bread, cookies, oranges and a bottle of lemonade. At 2:00pm I took the train, at 2:34 I arrived at Santiago, visiting the city, especially the historical center, and then trying to hitchhike to Portugal. The historical center, as to me, wasn't that interesting as expected. Of course it was interesting, sometimes impressing, but I have to admit I already saw better ones, so I was and am still wondering why thousands of million people would go there. The decision was easily made to not stay there for long but to get to Porto as soon as possible to hopefully arrive there tonight and not having to sleep in my tent. Well, passing the cathedral of Santiago, I had to admit that it is really a beautiful and fascinating building. But that's it. I'm not that much into churches. And oh my goodness, how many pilgrims! To get a map of Santiago and Galicia for hitchhiking I needed to wait for about half an hour since the tourist information was so crowded, so at 5:00pm I decided to go by train to Vigo which is close to the Portuguese border and from there decide whether to go by hitchhiking or by ALSA bus or by train again to Porto. In Vigo I got to know three girls from Germany travelling by InterRail ticket, Nina, Eva and Sarah, who wanted to go to Porto, too, so I bought another train ticket for Porto and used the almost thirty minutes to wait for the train to have a mini sightseeing in Vigo, which is, like Gijon and Coruña before, a big and not very interesting city, at least from what I could see around the station. From the train to Vigo, from the windows, I could see that next to Vigo was a very beautiful bay or lake which I tried to get a view of from the city but I couldn't. Leaving at 7:54pm I knew I would arrive at 9:09pm in Porto, which would be 10:09pm in Portuguese time due to time shift. Actually I had a host in Porto but unfortunately I could not reach her neither via SMS nor via phone call. At least I'll get to Porto, so I'll see what will be there...

A day at the beach (Coruña)

Rosalía, my host in Coruña, picked me up at the bus stop and took me to her home. The city, as to me, also was not very pretty but with beautiful spots - as Gijon. Concerning Gijon I want to add one thing I forgot to mention yesterday; something about girls: I haven't seen in any other place women and even young girls wearing hot pants which were so short that you could see already half the ass - and there were many wearing this. Not that this disturbs me, its more the contrary, I just found it amazing and worth to mention. So back to Coruña, we spent the evening talking about philosophy (that's what she studies) and Waldorf pedagogy and went to bed late. In consequence, we got up late the next morning, had breakfast in the city and went to see some beaches, but instead of swimming we walked to Torre de Hercules and to a Celtic stone circle. Then we went to a beach to go swimming but not for long since her parents invited us for lunch at 2:30pm. Later she went to a beauty salon and I took a walk in the older part of the city. In the evening we met her Friend Tania, who studied germanistics and two other friends to go to a concert near the beach. But in fact, Rosalía and I weren't in good mood for this loud and crowdy rock concert so we left having a drink and went back home around midnight to continue talking about philosophy and Camphill movement she was quite interested in. Again we went to bed late. The next morning I wanted to leave quite early to go to Porto passing Santiago.
