To Lisboa

The city was calm during the night, only some doves made some noise and of course there was the background noise from Ribeira which one could hear quite far but soon all this noise was far away and silent. Another thing I like about Porto is that the city is on hills so many streets are on different levels connected by stairs as I know it from some mountain villages. Of course it's harder and more exhausting to walk there but as to me it's also more beautiful for the skyline of the city. I am quite sure that it's probably not the last time I was in Porto. The more I walked and thought about different things (there is always a lot to think about, especially today) the better I was concerning my 'situation' At 3:20am still far away from Luanna I started jogging to shorten the time. Actually after 50 minutes I arrived at her house and her brother let me in. Of course I slept til late again, then prepared myself for hitchhiking after I tried to get someone for couchsurfing in Lisboa, searched for a good hitchhiking spot and saved my pictures so far in my GoogleMail account so that they wouldn't get lost for any reason as a proactiv action. Then in the late afternoon I left for the highway service area which was a little 30 minutes walk away and, as I read, not easy to enter because of a fence. When I arrived next to the service station, the fence was not at all a problem. You just had to get over it 200m before the station. At the station there was already a Polish couple waiting and after some minutes we found a lift for the three of us, a funny guy who took us to a station close to Alveiro. Then the two got someone for their direction while I found a theater artist for Coimbra. Since I heard a lot about this city I decided to have a little mini stop there before I would go on to Lisboa. I knew it was risky since it was already 8:30pm but I had no couch in Lisboa yet so far and I thought I could get a bus or train later so I wanted to enjoy the city for a one hour walk. The city, especially the old part up the hill was quite enjoyable but also exhausting with all the stairs. There were many beautiful bars and cafes all around and I could easily imagine that it would be a really lovely place to study but due to summer holidays there were not too many people. At 9:30pm it was already dark and I went to the bus station to see whether I could get a bus there. At 10:00pm there was a bus which I bought a ticket for. If I'd been earlier leaving Porto or if I hadn't stopped in Coimbra I'm quite sure I'd reached Lisboa all by hitchhiking. While waiting for the bus to come I had some dinner in a bar next to the bus stop. They had some delicious bakery there which served perfectly my needs. Then I had the bus to Lisboa and no couch there yet. But that wasn't a big problem I thought.
